SWO Sports is an independent sports news platform built to shine a brighter light on
the teams, athletes, and moments that make Southwestern Ontario special. We’re based in London, Ontario, and we cover sports the way we believe it should be covered: with effort, accuracy, and real passion.

What We Cover

We’re here for all of it — breaking news, game recaps, scores, features, interviews, opinion pieces, and community stories that deserve attention. Hockey is our starting point, but it’s not the finish line. As SWO Sports grows, so will the coverage.

Independent by Design

SWO Sports is independent. That matters. It means we can focus on what’s real, what’s relevant, and what the community actually cares about – without chasing corporate angles or packaging local sports like an afterthought.

Our Approach

We aim to strike the balance between a professional newsroom and a true fan perspective. We want our work to feel credible and well-reported, but never cold or disconnected. We’re part of the community, and we take that seriously.

  • We support local athletes and the people behind the scenes who make the game happen.
  • We give smaller leagues visibility and treat their stories like they matter — because they do.
  • We focus on respectful coverage and don’t exist to trash players or tear people down.

Rumours & Leads

Sports move fast, and sometimes the first hint of a real story starts as a rumour. We’re not afraid to follow leads — but our goal is always to turn noise into something meaningful: confirmation, context, and a story worth publishing.

Built by Locals

SWO Sports is currently a solo project, built locally in London. Over time, the goal is to grow into a trusted network of local contributors – writers, photographers, and community voices who care about covering SWO the right way.
